Hello Friends,
I'm the mother of an excellently humorous teen and a busy, bubbly toddler. I'm also a wife, and a social behavior skills teacher at an Austin, TX elementary school. My enjoyment and fascination with different societies - especially dystopian ones - stems from way back in my childhood. And it has always stayed with me. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Applied Sociology from Texas State University-San Marcos.
As a child in foster care, reading was my favorite pastime. It offered me the treasures of travel, adventure, and perspective. I lived off of the works of C. S. Lewis, George Orwell, and John Christopher, and they have so righteously influenced my own writing.
My most powerful memory is of my eleven-year-old self. I was riding in the back seat of my foster mom's car and I'd just finished reading The Giver by Lois Lowry. I closed the book and took a deep, satisfied sigh. Then I vowed to my foster family that one day, I would write a book that made other young people feel just as good. I'm thrilled to say that I think I've accomplished that goal. The Wake Trilogy has come highly recommended by Readers' Favorite, and my reading community continues to grow every day.
Thank you, dear friends. Your support means a great deal to me, and I appreciate every bit of feedback, correspondence and interaction that I have with you.
There is one thing I've learned through my writing and in my life path, and if you take nothing else away from me, please take this: In an uncertain world, choose to be a hero!
Best,
Sasha DeVore
Bookshop is an online platform that provides the same wonderful services as amazon.com, but takes online book purchasing a step in the right direction by supporting local bookstores with every purchase. I am proud to say that I'm an affiliate of Bookshop.org, and I will also earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase from my website. This is the most highly recommended way that you can financially support my work as an author, as well as physical bookstores, which are one of the cornerstones of a well-cultured society.
